REVIEW: Jessie J & 2 Chainz's "Burnin' Up" Brings the Fire, Sex Appeal in New 'Sweet Talker' Single [LISTEN]

Jessie J is walking through the fire and heating things up on her new single "Burnin' Up." After announcing her collaboration with 2 Chainz last week on Instagram, today (Sept. 22), the hot new single was finally released.

"Burnin' Up" distinguishes itself from J's lead Sweet Talker single "Bang Bang" right out the gate, with a smooth, soaring guitar solo straight out of the 1980s. The bombastic, ominous opening has its tension cut quite quickly with uncharacteristically restrained vocals from J, though she soon builds up to those powerhouse volumes and notes that she's been well known for.

"Walking through the fire / Please don't let me go / Take me to the river / I want you to know / I'm burning up / Pump me up," J sings in the pre-chorus and chorus with plenty of sassy, sexual energy. With a chorus marked by hand clap rhythms, strategic breathing and that insanely loud voice, "Burnin' Up" is all about the hot energy of a passionate night.

Guest artist 2 Chainz further helps to break the song up, adding in a little extra edge for his verse. "Everything hot like it's fresh off the grill," he raps while continuing J's metaphor of heat, cooking and, of course sex.

"Burnin' Up" is the second single from J's upcoming third studio album Sweet Talker. Previously led by the banging Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj featuring single "Bang Bang," Sweet Talker will be released on Oct. 13.
